Hotels are always going to be a popular option for weddings, after all they generally offer everything in one place so take less effort in the planning. So, how do you go about choosing which hotel might be for you? Here are 5 of my top choice hotel wedding venues in Hertfordshire to start you off. Some of these are quirky, some are expensive, all are well worth a look, so read on...

Tewin Bury Farm Hotel near Welwyn Garden City

So, I'll start with something a bit quirky; it's a barn venue with hotel rooms. They have a choice of a smaller barn style room up to a large barn venue so are able to accommodate between 40 and 500 guests. Rooms are well laid out and have access to separated outdoor areas, perfect for summer weddings. The countryside location isn't too far out of Welwyn, very easy to get to, and has a gorgeous river running through it. A beautiful location with lots of parking available and around 40 well appointed, bedrooms in a similar style to the rest of the venue.

Sopwell House

This is a gorgeous luxury hotel just outside St Albans with a pool and spa, set in 12 acres of Hertfordshire countryside. From the moment you arrive you can feel the luxury, with friendly helpful staff and a beautifully decorated reception your guests will be instantly wowed. Catering for small and medium sized weddings, you might blow your wedding budget here, but you won't regret it, and it also might not be by as much as you think. They're wedding packages have loads of added extras, making your wedding planning that much easier. With a good-sized experienced team, you'll be in safe hands.

Aubrey Park Hotel

Situated between St Albans and Hemel Hempstead, this hotel mixes modern with vintage - the site dates back to 1600's, but the modern purpose-built Oak Suite is a much more recent extension to their facilities, and a fabulous addition to their wedding service. The great outdoors is a main feature of this independent hotel with sweeping windows and views out to the nearby wood. And they're dog friendly too!

Offley Place Country House Hotel

Just on the Herts/Beds border between Luton and Hitchin this popular hotel wedding venue continues to grow with the addition last year of the larger Hester Suite, a standalone space in the grounds of this beautiful old house. Although the number of hotel rooms are limited (compared to its function capacity), this hotel has a fantastic amount to offer both you and your wedding guests. Its countryside location makes for a peaceful retreat, though you're not too far from civilisation.

Fanhams Hall

Well off the beaten track this unique, quirky hotel wedding venue offers both a medieval style banqueting hall And the modern Lakeside Pavilion, as well as accommodating outdoor wedding ceremonies (weather permitting). The beautiful rambling gardens (in which you can plant a rose in honour of your wedding should you chose) and grounds make this old country house hotel venue well worth a visit alone.
